Black Girls in Tech (BGIT) welcomed members of its community for the Power Run and Brunch on 10 May 2025, combining movement, wellness, and meaningful connection in an event designed to promote both physical and mental wellbeing.
The event brought together women from across the BGIT network for an energising group run, creating an opportunity to step away from busy schedules, prioritise self-care, and strengthen community bonds through shared experiences. Participants of all fitness levels were encouraged to take part, reinforcing the message that wellness is about progress, participation, and showing up for yourself.
Following the run, attendees gathered for brunch, where conversations continued in a relaxed and supportive environment. The event provided space for networking, reflection, and building new relationships, with members sharing their personal journeys, career experiences, and aspirations while celebrating the importance of community.
The Power Run and Brunch reflected Black Girls in Tech's commitment to supporting the whole person, recognising that professional success is closely linked to physical health, mental wellbeing, and strong support networks. By creating opportunities that extend beyond technical skills and career development, BGIT continues to foster a community where women can grow, connect, and thrive together.
More than a fitness event, the day served as a reminder that strength takes many forms. It can be found in challenging yourself, encouraging others, prioritising wellbeing, and creating spaces where women feel empowered to connect authentically.
Black Girls in Tech extends its heartfelt thanks to every participant who joined the Power Run and Brunch. The enthusiasm, encouragement, and sense of sisterhood throughout the day made the event a memorable celebration of wellness and community, and the organisation looks forward to hosting more initiatives that inspire connection both inside and outside the technology sector.
